CALLING all Southern African tourists – have you ever considered travelling your own continent? Experiencing the magic of a neighbouring country; a familiar, yet completely different African journey, especially when combined with seeing one of the natural wonders of the world, is a must-do for every African adventurer serious about travelling.

Local is ‘Lekker’ – A South African Visitor’s Perspective

Jaco Rademeyer

South African businessman Jaco Rademeyer, a seasoned intercontinental traveller, was a guest at Victoria Falls River Lodge for the first time in December 2018.

“It was incredible. I had never been to Zimbabwe, and I was pleasantly surprised. Victoria Falls had always been on my bucket-list. The holiday really exceeded my expectations and I can honestly say that it has been one of the best trips that I have experienced to date,” said Rademeyer.

Even though he spent just a few days at the Victoria Falls River Lodge Luxury Tented Suites, Rademeyer – who by day is an extremely busy real estate professional based in Port Elizabeth – said he was able to completely relax, unwind and “switch off entirely”.

He attributes this in part to the incredible service at the Lodge, and in part to the magnificent setting of the Lodge – on the banks of the Zambezi River inside the Zambezi National Park.

“I have been on many game drives before, but never experienced coming so close to the animals – particularly on the boat trips on the Zambezi River. Also, just the fact that the animals roam between the units, is amazing,” said Rademeyer.

The attentive Victoria Falls River Lodge staff – from organising his transfers to making him feel at home with top class hospitality and exceptional food – also received great praise from Rademeyer.

“They really thought of everything – there is so much attention to detail in the service they offer. It’s not a 5-star lodge, but a 7-star lodge in my opinion,” said Rademeyer.

And then, of course, there was the Falls. Drenched in the mighty Zambezi’s spray, Rademeyer said the Falls took his breath away. Knowing that he was standing in front of one of the Wonders of the World was mind-blowing and a definite tick off his bucket-list.

When asked if he had any words of advice for Southern African tourists considering the Falls as their next holiday destination Rademeyer concluded: “I would highly recommend a visit to Victoria Falls River Lodge as it offers good value for money. And it’s so close – just over and hour’s flight from Johannesburg.”
