CONSERVATION is an integral part of the operations at Victoria Falls River Lodge, which is situated in a protected environmental area in Zimbabwe.
From the soap to the solar panels – special care and thought are put into the various ways of leaving a zero footprint on the beautiful natural surroundings where the Lodge is built.
Eco-friendly initiatives at the Lodge, according to Victoria Falls River Lodge’s General Manager Roddy Meiring, include releasing all grey water from the rooms back into the environment. All water is heated via solar panels and refuse from the Lodge is removed from Zambezi National Park entirely and sent to recycling areas and waste management facilities outside of the Park.
“Considering our location in the National Park and close proximity to the Zambezi River, we need to maintain sound environmental practices and ensure that no waste or harmful products are released into the river. The idea is to keep what Mother Nature intended intact and to try and have a zero footprint on our surroundings,” said Meiring.
Guests at Victoria Falls River Lodge are encouraged to conserve resources and be kind to the environment, with signage in all rooms regarding responsible water usage and daily replacement of towels and bed linen.
