CONSERVATION is top of mind at Victoria Falls River Lodge, and we pride ourselves on the symbiotic relationship we enjoy with our beautiful natural surroundings.
Being committed to eco-friendly practices, conserving natural resources, and having as little as possible of a footprint on the protected surroundings of Zambezi National Park is the priority of the management and staff at Victoria Falls River Lodge.
One of the ways we do this, is through a small solar facility on the property that supplements the energy needs of the lodge, which goes a long way in taking a load off the grid, according to Victoria Falls River Lodge General Manager Roxanne Cragg.
“Solar energy is a clean renewable energy source that does not emit harmful pollutants during its operation. It is important for us to do our part in fighting climate change,” said Cragg.
Africabusiness.com reports that a typical residential solar panel system can offset about 5 tons of carbon dioxide per year, which is equivalent to planting 400 trees.
In addition, the lodge’s high tech water filtration system also allows for sparkling and still water to be produced and bottled on-site. This helps to create awareness about reducing the use of plastic for both staff and guests visiting Victoria Falls River Lodge.
Much like harnessing the power of the sun, water tanks have also strategically been placed at the Lodge to conserve rainwater. In addition, grey water systems and eco-friendly guest amenities are some of our other conservation efforts.
