SPECTACULAR VIEWS AND EASY ACCESS TO SOME OF AFRICA’S MOST SOUGHT-AFTER SITES AND EXPERIENCES

Set along the banks of the majestic Zambezi River, deep within the Zambezi National Park, Victoria Falls River Lodge presents exceptional wildlife viewing experiences and convenient access to the historic town of Victoria Falls. Its prime location not only allows for unforgettable visits to the renowned Falls but also invites exploration of this awe-inspiring natural wonder by foot.

THE SMOKE THAT THUNDERS – VICTORIA FALLS

The falls are believed to be the largest in the world in terms of the volume of water that flows over them.

Discover the awe-inspiring Victoria Falls, also known as Mosi-oa-Tunya, translating to ‘The smoke that thunders’ in local Kololo and Lozi languages. As the largest single sheet of falling water on Earth, Victoria Falls spans the Zambezi River between Zambia and Zimbabwe.

Recognised as a UNESCO World Heritage Site and an original ‘Seven Natural Wonders of the World’, alongside icons like the Great Barrier Reef and the Aurora Borealis, Victoria Falls is a must-see for seasoned travellers worldwide.

Named by Scottish explorer Dr David Livingstone in 1855 in honour of Queen Victoria, the Falls captivate visitors with their sheer grandeur. From guided tours by Victoria Falls National Park rangers to exclusive lunar tours offering glimpses of the rare lunar rainbow during full moon periods, Victoria Falls River Lodge ensures an unforgettable experience.

"The spray from the Falls typically rises to a height of over 400 metres (1,300 ft), sometimes even twice as high, and is visible from up to 48 km (30 mi) away."

Two islands, Boaruka Island (or Cataract Island) and Livingstone Island, divide the curtain of water even during full flood, offering unique perspectives of this natural wonder.

The Zambezi River experiences its rainy season from late November to early April, with the annual flood season lasting from February to May. Whether shrouded in mist during the rainy season or crystal clear during the dry season from September to January, Victoria Falls mesmerises year-round with its dramatic water spectacle—a true showcase of African natural beauty.
