CONSIDERED one of the best stargazing spots in Southern Africa, Victoria Falls is well-known for its magnificently lit up African night skies. Zimbabwe’s open skies and low light pollution provide the ideal backdrop for those wanting to sit back, relax and drink in the magnitude of the galaxy.
While precious little beats stargazing by camp fire, the starry splendour has recently been invited into a special room at Victoria Falls River Lodge – adding a little bit of milky-way magic to the décor of the bedroom. With nothing but the twinkling sky doubling as both a ceiling and roof, the Zambezi Crescent Collection’s flagship lodge has recently introduced the magnificent double-storey Starbed Treehouse upstairs bedroom, on the rooftop of one of its Island Treehouse Suites.
The lodges’ Island Treehouse Suites, suspended on stilts above the iconic Zambezi River, are located on the private Kandahar island. In addition, to all the indulgent amenities offered standard by the Island Treehouse accommodation packages, the Starbed Treehouse boasts an en-suite bathroom with twin rain showers and vanities. The Starbed Treehouse’s signature upstairs bedroom also has a sitting area with telescope, which is bound to provide hours of stargazing delight.
