ZAMBEZI CRESCENT PRESCHOOL GOES DIGITAL

With its potential to transform the traditional classroom, ICT is being increasingly included in early childhood education.

As part of Zambezi Crescent’s support and assistance to the community living in Zambezi National Park, we established a preschool in 2018 that currently caters for 28 children whose parents work in the park.

To further prepare these young learners for a bright future in the digital age, Zambezi Crescent Preschool has partnered with Victoria Falls Primary School, based in the town of Victoria Falls, for the learners to attend ICT lessons at the school’s innovation hub.

These lessons are designed to be age-appropriate and interactive. The children learn basic computer skills, such as using a mouse and keyboard, navigating the internet, and creating simple documents and presentations.

They also use educational apps and games that promote literacy, numeracy, and other areas of learning. The innovation hub at Victoria Falls Primary School is equipped with computers, tablets, and other ICT tools. The hub is managed by a trained teacher who guides the children in their learning journey. The teacher also provides support and feedback to the children, ensuring that they are making progress and achieving their goals.

The partnership with Victoria Falls Primary School has allowed Zambezi Crescent Preschool to access more resources and expertise in ICT. It has also created opportunities for the children to interact with students from a different school, fostering social and cultural exchange.

Zambezi Crescent Preschool is committed to bridging the digital divide by providing access to ICT tools and training to its learners. The integration of ICT in early childhood education has enormous potential to enhance the quality and accessibility of learning, making it more engaging, interactive, and personal.
